Solly is a 22 year-old independent self-taught singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He writes and performs his own music, is both a solo artist and performer, whilst also a member of five-piece funk band, ’Still Royal’. His musical style blends Soul, Jazz and R&B, is characterised by his soulful, expressive vocals, paired with soft keys and the use of guitar; resulting in a deep, rich sound. Lynda Murray band leader, saxophonist, composer and teacher (now retired) has been living in Hastings since 1986. (The Street Cafe Bar and Hastings Jazz Club) as well as organising a two day jazz festival that featured Julian Joseph, Toni Kofi, Liam Noble and Winston Clifford among other notable Uk jazz scene musicians. For more than 30 years Lynda has played in local music venues this includes Jazz Breakfasts at St Mary In The Castle and about 20 years ago with Paul Whitten in the band, they played the opening set for Courtney Pine at the De La Warr Pavilion. Lynda was commissioned to write a piece of music for the first ever Coastal Currents event, played in the first St Leonards Festival, and played in Hasting’s first ever Seafood and Wine Festival. Lynda plays mainly modern jazz, and her own compositions. She is inspired and influenced by Cannonball Adderly, John Coltrane, Lee Konitz and Miles Davis.
