Afrit Nebula ~ 5.00pm

December 19 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Barnaby's Lounge 46 Robertson Street, Hastings

Afrit Nebula refuse to stay in one lane. Drawing on avant-garde jazz, progressive rock, Middle Eastern modes, Afro-Cuban rhythms and free improvisation, the trio of Elaine Edwards, Ken Edwards and Yair Katz create music that moves from hypnotic grooves and atmospheric textures to explosive, unpredictable improvisation. Their new album, What Next, captures that adventurous spirit — and they’re bringing it live to Barnaby’s Lounge. Expect powerful interplay, intricate rhythms, distinctive textures and fearless improvisation, with each musician pushing the music somewhere unexpected. This special album-launch performance also celebrates John Coltrane’s 100th birthday, making it a particularly exciting night for listeners who enjoy music that crosses boundaries and rewards close attention. A seriously adventurous live set in an intimate Barnaby’s setting — early table booking recommended.
