Open Mic Starts from 7.00pm Hosted by Konarucchi MENU from Chef Christopher Powell from 4.00pm Bio : took a keen interest in cooking from as early as five, helping and learning from his Grandmother in her Welsh farm house kitchen. At 14 on weekends he began his official training, in a renowned restaurant with three rosettes, near Hay On Wye, learning many vital skills. Growing up He went on to work in various establishments around that same area , Then came his four year stay  in Rome, where he quickly learnt Italian, and Cristiano Catapano took him under his wing. Chris perfected the art of pasta making, along with many more skills. His Head Chef at that time now owns his own Michelin star restaurant in Milan. Christopher then moved to Brighton and worked as a Senior Sous Chef in two five- star hotels, then becoming a Head Chef in an independently owned restaurant in Haywards Heath, designing and creating his own menu. His next move with his Wife, was to the wonderful Hastings where he continues as the Head Chef in The Chequers Inn in Battle. On Tuesday 26 August at 7.00pm we’ll be hosting our bi-weekly Open Mic. Anyone of any skill level is welcome, you don’t need to bring anything (but can if you want to), we will supply a PA, guitar and piano. Robert Rotifer The Austrian musician, pop critic and radio DJ comes to Hastings for a special one-off gig. Known for his own unusual and quirky songs about mixed feelings his songs include beautiful guitar-led melodies and wistful lyrics. He was born in Vienna and moved to England in the 1990s and is based in Canterbury. He works with Helen McCookerybook and releases on Gare du Nord Records.

Jo Stout has performed all over the UK in venues as diverse as London's O2 Arena, The NEC, The Albert Hall, The Vortex, The Spice of Life, The Blues Kitchen… His band "Terrarium" have played at Brighton Jazz Festival, playing Jo's own composition's on a 'world jazz' theme. Tom Millar is a London-based pianist, composer and bandleader, playing with Jo Stout’s “Terrarium”, the Andrew Linham Jazz Orchestra, the Matt Sulzmann/Tom Millar quartet, and Way Out West jazz collective as well as with his own projects, from solo to nonet. His music has been heard on BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM, and he has performed all over the UK and Ireland, as well as in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Holland, Dubai, Qatar, and the USA. Joined by Roger Carey on bass, Tom Shepherd on drums, Rob Leake on saxophone. Not to be missed !

Robbie has won prizes for Outstanding Musicianship and Composition. He was a national finalist in the Young Jazz Musician of the Year and the runner up in the Perrier Young Jazz Musician. He plays regularly with Hans Koller, the Gareth Lockrane Septet, Alcyona Mick Quintet, The Calum Gourlay Big Band and the London Jazz Orchestra. He has also worked with Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Lane, Phil Woods, Mike Gibbs, Evan Parker, Jamie Cullum, and the James Taylor Quartet. He has recently recorded albums with both Bill Frisell and Steve Swallow DO NOT MISS THIS :)
