Donna Canale & The Jazz Singing Class Founded in 2007 by accomplished vocalist Donna Canale, the Jazz Singing Class was created as a welcoming space where singers of all levels could come together to explore, experiment, and express themselves through the art of jazz. What began as a small, passionate community of jazz enthusiasts quickly grew into a vibrant, supportive learning environment. Marky started teaching himself piano at 14. At 18, whilst studying at The London College of Music, he started working as a resident musician in bars and clubs. It's here he developed his Boogie/Rock n Roll style piano playing along with his ability to interact with an audience. Taking requests and heckles whilst expanding his repertoire. Mixing his versions of classics with his own catchy songs. Marky is a charismatic showman with a huge voice most often described as a mix of Elton John and Freddie Mercury, and Piano chops to make Jerry Lee Lewis blush. Residency - Every 3rd Wednesday at 8.00pm. Music from the Cool Jazz Era, post-bop, latin-swing fusion and original compositions. Lynda Murray – alto and sopranino saxes. During1984 she was in the same cohort as Courtney Pine in a London based community music project called Search and Reflect. Lynda’s quartet with Paul Whitten opened for Courtney Pine at the De La Warr Pavilion November 2005. Paul Whitten – double bass – played for Chet Baker in Paris in the 80’s. He has played with Lynda for more than 20 years. He is also a respectected East Sussex based side-man and plays for many jazz projects coming out of Brighton. Yair Katz – drummer and world music percussion, has played several Womad Festivals. He plays for several Hastings based groups and has been playing with Lynda for 2 years

Jo Stout has performed all over the UK in venues as diverse as London’s O2 Arena, The NEC, The Albert Hall, The Vortex, The Spice of Life, The Blues Kitchen…and Butlins! Since moving back to Hastings he has firmly re established his local musical connections having played with Liane Carroll, Roger Carey, Rob Leake, Terry Pack, Paul Whitten, Stuart Jackaman and of course the Barnaby’s Lounge Big Band. Tom Millar is a London-based pianist, composer and bandleader, playing with Jo Stout’s “Terrarium”, the Andrew Linham Jazz Orchestra, the Matt Sulzmann/Tom Millar quartet, and Way Out West jazz collective as well as with his own projects, from solo to nonet. His music has been heard on BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM, and he has performed all over the UK and Ireland, as well as in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Holland, Dubai, Qatar, and the USA. On bass, Roger Carey tours regularly with Steeleye Span
