8th Form – Jazz, Funk, Indie Rock 6.00pm

"8th Form" met in a school choir 2 years ago. Two musically passionate 16 year olds: multi-talented singer, songwriter, guitarist and ukulelist Hayley Adjei and drummer, singer, songwriter Hana Bolton have formed a new band performing originals and much loved jazz, funk and indie rock covers. They formed their band shortly after finishing secondary school this year and this will be their debut performance together. Individually they have preformed frequently, both playing numerous times at De La Warr and concerts in and out of school. They are now looking forward to continuing their musical journey together

Stolen Moments Jazz Piano Trio 8.30pm

A group of three musicians, all very familiar to Barnaby's audiences but never heard before in this combination of a classic Jazz Trio of Piano, Bass and Drums! They play jazz standards & some more rare pieces from the repertoire of artists like Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett and more. Andy Nunn - Piano - has years of professional experience as a musician and composer including recording and writing with artists Jonathan Jeremiah, Goldheart Assembly, Polly Paulusma, Delilah, Kathryn Williams, Joel Edwards, Wrenne, Pete Molinari and Roland Gift and touring internationally with Bluetones, Mark Morriss, Emiliana Torrini and Morcheeba. Andy is also a musical director & writer for musical theatre and dance productions and a multi instrumentalist. As well as being a fine jazz pianist he is also an in-demand educator with experience as a private music tutor and as Head of Music in Ofsted outstanding Primary and Secondary schools in London. Björn is a familiar sax and clarinet musician in jazz circles locally and across the south with a variety of bands including Bjorn’s Brothers Of Rhythm. He plays an infectious brand of swing, blues and latin American jazz. Matt Jackson plays regularly with Sister Suzie and oozes blues + rockabilly

John Donaldson Jazz Trio + Guests 1.30pm

John Donaldson San Sebastian Festival and British Jazz Awards winner, John Donaldson has played with the many of the greats: Freddie Hubbard, Eddie Henderson, Art Farmer, John Handy, Don Weller, Norma Winstone, Steve Grossman, Eric Alexander and Art Themen.   He worked with a reformed Gentle Giant which included original members Kerry Minnear and Gary Green, touring as 'Three Friends' in North America, Japan and Europe. John began playing jazz while attending Cambridge Art College, as part of the Cambridge Modern Jazz Club’s house rhythm section in the 1970’s, alongside Chucho Merchan, Nic France, Before that he'd with played with the art rock band Armada, Arthur Brown, Lenny Zakatek and Viv Stanshall's backing band Big Grunt. He's also worked as accompanist for a wide range of artists from Larry Adler to Nigel Kennedy Since 2016, he has been Pete Brown's writing partner and musical director, collaborating as producer, co-writer and musical director on Pete's last album 'The Shadow Club' which features Eric Clapton, Joe Bonomassa, Arthur Brown, Bobby Rush, Bernie Marsden, Carla Olson, Matt Schofield and many more. LIVE MUSIC from the Tim Hoyte + Friends from 5.00pm. MENU from Chef Christopher Powell FROM 4.00PM Bio : took a keen interest in cooking from as early as five, helping and learning from his Grandmother in her Welsh farm house kitchen. At 14 on weekends he began his official training, in a renowned restaurant with three rosettes, near Hay On Wye, learning many vital skills. Growing up He went on to work in various establishments around that same area , Then came his four year stay  in Rome, where he quickly learnt Italian, and Cristiano Catapano took him under his wing. Chris perfected the art of pasta making, along with many more skills. His Head Chef at that time now owns his own Michelin star restaurant in Milan. Christopher then moved to Brighton and worked as a Senior Sous Chef in two five- star hotels, then becoming a Head Chef in an independently owned restaurant in Haywards Heath, designing and creating his own menu. His next move with his Wife, was to the wonderful Hastings where he continues as the Head Chef in The Chequers Inn in Battle. Now Head Chef Christopher is presenting his very own “pop up” […]
