• Jack Beattie Jazz Trio – 8.30pm

    Jack Beattie has  played with some of the North West’s finest musicians such as Les Bolger (Louis Stewart Quartet), John McCormick (The Spinners, Gary Potter), John Harper (John Williams, Atarah Ben-Tovim), and Paul Leonard (Peter King, Jools Holland). He’s also performed/recorded with many of the UK’s leading Gospel and CCM artists such as Steve Thompson (Dionne Warwick, London Community Gospel Choir), Graham Kendrick, and Geraldine Latty. Mike Stock (bass) studied in Los Angeles with Joel Di Bartolo (Buddy Rich, The Tonight Show, Ernie Watts), Tom Warrington (Buddy Rich, Randy Brecker), and Jeff Berlin (Alan Holdsworth). He went on to perform in multiple situations with the likes of Kenny Jones (The Who), Mike Rutherford (Genesis), and Paul Young (Sad Café). Tony MacDonnell, hailing from Leeds College of music, has worked professionally as a drummer since his formative years. He’s performed with legends such as Johnny Dankworth and Tubby Hayes and continues to work with the Les Paul Big Band

  • Greg Heath Jazz Quartet – 1.30pm

    Greg Heath has worked with a wide range of jazz and popular musicians, including Dr John, Jimmy Cliff, Omar Hakim, Rachael Z, Nile Rogers, Mica Paris, Maceo Parker, Van Morrison and Joan Armatrading After moving to California, pianist John Donaldson worked with  Eddie Henderson, John Handy, Jeff Ballard, Donny McCaslin, Larry Grenadier and Red Holloway to name a few. Back in England he’s worked with Art Themen, Alan Barnes, Norma Winstone, Don Weller, Art Farmer, Steve Grossman, Eric Alexander. He’s also won the best pianist slot at the British Jazz Awards Bassist Simon Thorpe worked in Bheki Mseleku’s band and  has become one the most popular bass players in the country. He’s  worked with numerous artists including Stacey Kent, Bobby Wellins, Alan Barnes and Amy Winehouse. He leads his own 30-40s swing band Jivin Miss Daisy and the electronic improv group Improphonics Joe Edwards - drums

    Every Monday Markus Thonett will be offering regular sessions for artists and art students to discuss any aspect of art. That includes but is not limited to any difficulties, challenges, ideas, questions and fantasies related to making art. No agenda other than whatever you would like to talk about. Tom Saxophonist Thomas Branson is a passionate young music graduate,  with a first class honours degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Chichester. Playing the instrument for over 14 years, styles range from classical and contemporary music to jazz and free improvisational music. Thomas regularly gigs throughout Brighton, across the country as well as abroad. Highlights include the Big Bands Brighton Jazz Mafia and Lewes Big Band, the travelling LDN2BTN, funk rock band Beatroot, free jazz band Hill Collective and more.
