SUMMARY:Greg Heath Quartet ~ 1.30pm
DESCRIPTION:For lovers of straight-ahead jazz\, soulful improvisation and world-class musicianship\, this is a Sunday afternoon not to miss.\nLed by acclaimed saxophonist Greg Heath\, the Greg Heath Quartet brings together decades of international performing experience\, drawing on the rich traditions of hard bop\, modern jazz and contemporary improvisation. Heath is a musician whose career has taken him from New Zealand and Australia to some of the most respected stages\, studios and festivals across the UK and beyond. (theallstars.co.uk) \nOriginally from Auckland\, Greg performed with the New Zealand Jazz Youth Orchestra before studying at the NSW Conservatorium in Sydney under legendary musicians James Morrison and Don Burrows. Since moving to the UK in 1989\, he has built an extraordinary career performing and recording with artists including Van Morrison\, Roy Ayers\, Maceo Parker\, Dr John\, Joan Armatrading\, Marianne Faithfull\, Terence Trent D’Arby\, Omar\, Jim Mullen and John Etheridge\, among many others. (theallstars.co.uk) \nWhile his work spans jazz\, soul\, funk and popular music\, Greg’s own jazz projects reveal his deep love for the classic saxophone tradition. Influenced by players such as John Coltrane\, Joe Henderson and the great Blue Note era musicians\, his performances combine lyrical phrasing\, powerful tone and adventurous improvisation. Critics have praised both his compositional voice and his ability to balance intensity with warmth and melody. (Elsewhere by Graham Reid) \nFor this special Sunday Jazz Lunch session\, Greg is joined by an outstanding rhythm section\, creating the perfect setting for relaxed yet deeply engaging live jazz. Expect swinging standards\, soulful grooves\, modern jazz influences and spontaneous musical conversations that unfold in real time. \nWhether you’re a dedicated jazz listener or simply looking for a memorable Sunday afternoon\, the Greg Heath Quartet offers the perfect combination of exceptional music\, great food and Barnaby’s intimate listening-room atmosphere. \nEvent Details\n📅 Sunday 20th September\n🕜 1.30pm\n🎷 Greg Heath Quartet\n📍 Barnaby’s Lounge\, 46 Robertson Street\, Hastings\n🎟 £6 contribution supports live musicians\n🍽 Delicious Food by Powell’s Kitchen\n🍸 Cocktails\, wines and local beers available throughout \nArtist Links\n🎷 Greg Heath Musician Profile \n🎶 Greg Heath Professional Credits \n📸 Greg Heath Musician Facebook \n🎥 Greg Heath Quartet Live Performance \n“Greg Heath plays with the kind of authority that only comes from decades of living inside the music.
