SUMMARY:Richard Erickson: Strange Cocktails | An Evening of Piano\, Jazz & Improvisation 5~7pm
DESCRIPTION:Join acclaimed pianist\, composer and improviser Richard Erickson for Strange Cocktails\, a captivating solo piano performance where jazz\, blues\, original compositions and spontaneous improvisation come together in an evening that is never quite the same twice. \nRichard will be joined in the second set by C.J. Berry-Guitarist\, whose major recording credits include Heidi Berry’s Firefly (Creation Records\, 1987)\, the landmark Creation compilation Doing It For The Kids (1988)\, and Below The Waves (Creation Records\, 1989). Genuine label pedigree in an intimate setting. \nDrawing on a career that spans the UK and the United States\, Richard has performed at renowned venues including The 606 Club\, The Southbank Centre\, The Bull’s Head and The Vox\, collaborating with celebrated musicians such as Stacey Kent\, Martin Shaw and Gerard Presencer. His work extends beyond the jazz stage into theatre\, dance and ballet\, including the feature-length jazz ballet Carmen\, premiered in Minnesota and revived to critical acclaim in 2023. \nStrange Cocktails is an invitation to expect the unexpected. From lyrical ballads and deep blues to adventurous improvisations\, Richard creates an atmosphere where every performance unfolds organically\, shaped by the room\, the audience and the moment itself. \nSettle in with one of Barnaby’s signature cocktails\, enjoy seasonal dishes from Powell’s Kitchen\, and experience an evening of exceptional live music in one of Hastings’ most intimate listening venues. \nDancing is entirely optional. Being transported somewhere unexpected is almost inevitable. \nLearn more about Richard Erickson and his work at https://richardericksonmusic.com. \nReserve your table at https://www.barnabyslounge.co.uk and join us for an unforgettable evening of music\, fine food and expertly crafted cocktails. \n

SUMMARY:Stormy T & Bluesman's Lane ~ 9.30pm
DESCRIPTION:Stormy-T & Bluesman’s Lane\nThey’re a four-piece Hastings blues band\, formed in 2018\, specialising in traditional jump and swing blues\, retro R&B and classic blues\, covering material from the 1930s through to the present alongside their own songs. They’ve also released an album of original material\, Drinkin’ & Swingin’. (hastingssussex.uk) \nFrontman Trevor White\, aka Stormy-T\, is a lifelong Hastings musician\, guitarist\, singer and blues enthusiast. He also presents The Stormy-T Blues Show on Hastings Rock Radio. Hastings Rock says the band regularly performs at pubs\, clubs and festivals around the country. (hastingsrock.co.uk) \nThe current band connected with the Hastings Blues Club is listed as Trevor White with Jem Turpin\, Andy Ingram and Tim Parker. They also run the long-established weekly Hastings Blues Club at Pissarro’s\, where visiting musicians are invited to get on stage and play. Their repertoire draws on artists including B.B. King\, Howlin’ Wolf\, T-Bone Walker\, Freddie King\, Robert Johnson\, Taj Mahal\, Robert Cray\, Elmore James and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. (hastingsonlinetimes.co.uk \n  \nPerformances\nOne particularly useful credential I found is their appearance at the Hastings Seafood & Wine Festival\, where the official programme billed them as an accomplished blues band playing R&B\, swing\, blues and funk. (visit1066country.com) \nThey are also established regulars on the Hastings/Bexhill circuit\, including Pissarro’s\, The Custom Café\, The Compass and The Jenny Lind\, alongside festival appearances. Their next Jenny Lind appearance is currently listed for 31 August 2026. (hastingssussex.uk) \nAnd interestingly\, they’ve played Barnaby’s before. I found a listing for their Barnaby’s Lounge show on 11 October 2025\, described as an evening of laid-back blues grooves. (hastingssussex.uk) \nUseful links\nStormy-T & Bluesman’s Lane band profile \nHastings Blues Club feature and band history \nTrevor White / Stormy-T on Hastings Rock Radio \nCurrent Stormy-T live listings around Hastings \nFor your 10 October Barnaby’s event\, I’d promote them less as simply a “local blues band” and more as one of Hastings’ established blues outfits\, festival performers and custodians of the town’s weekly blues-club tradition. That gives the booking considerably more weight.
