Professor Robbie Robson’s Jazz Trio ~ 1.30pm

Robbie Robson is one of the most distinctive trumpet voices on the UK scene, equally at home in contemporary jazz, big‑band writing and cross‑genre projects. A long‑standing member of the London Jazz Orchestra, he’s performed with many of the country’s leading composers and improvisers, and is a core part of the exploratory ensemble Dog Soup — a band known for its adventurous writing and fearless improvisation rather than a solo album project.
Robbie has just returned from touring with Tim Minchin, adding another layer to a career that has seen him collaborate with major theatre productions, pop artists and large‑scale orchestral projects. His playing combines power, precision and personality, making him one of the most versatile and respected trumpeters working today.
For this special Sunday Lunch performance she appears with two award‑winning British jazz heavyweights:
- John Donaldson — celebrated pianist and British Jazz Award winner (Best Pianist).
- Simon Thorpe — one of the UK’s most respected bassists and an award‑winning bandleader (notably for his Swing Band and Jump Band projects).
