Tuesday 8 December | From 8.00pm

Jazz is at its best when musicians listen, respond and take the music somewhere unexpected. Barnaby’s Lounge opens the floor for an evening of live jazz, welcoming singers, instrumentalists and anyone who simply wants to enjoy the sound of musicians playing together.

Hosted by the house band, the session offers a relaxed space for musicians of all abilities to try out tunes, develop their improvisation and share the stage with fellow players. A Real Book with chord changes is available, so you can join in even if you haven’t brought your own. A microphone is provided for vocalists.

Whether you’re ready to sit in with the band or prefer to enjoy the music from your seat, the open jazz jam brings a sense of collaboration and discovery to Hastings’ live music scene. No two sessions need to sound alike — that’s the pleasure of a proper jam.

Food is served by Vinnie’s Pizza Co. from 3pm to 9pm, with New York-style pizza, small plates, dips and more to enjoy alongside the live music.
