John Harriman Jazz Trio

Friday 20th November | 8:30pm

Barnaby’s Lounge is delighted to welcome the John Harriman Jazz Trio for an evening of world-class musicianship, effortless swing and beautifully crafted jazz.

Leading the trio is acclaimed pianist and composer John Harriman, one of the UK’s most respected jazz musicians. Known for his lyrical touch, dazzling improvisation and remarkable versatility, John has built an international reputation performing across jazz, Latin, blues, rock and contemporary music. His award-winning Cuban jazz project Heads Southhas received widespread critical acclaim, while his performances continue to take him to leading clubs and festivals throughout the UK and beyond. Critics have described his playing as “impeccable musicianship” and praised his ability to combine technical brilliance with warmth and accessibility. (Bandsintown)

Joining him is renowned bassist Roger Carey, a familiar and much-loved figure on the South Coast jazz scene. Roger’s rich tone, expressive playing and deep understanding of both traditional and modern jazz make him a perfect musical partner. Beyond jazz, his career has seen him perform with artists including blues legend Long John Baldry, progressive rock musicians from Three Friends (formerly of Gentle Giant), acclaimed vocalist Liane Carroll, and folk-rock legends Steeleye Span.

Completing the trio is drummer Tony MacDonnell, one of the most respected drummers in the region. His subtle touch, impeccable timing and ability to move effortlessly between swinging jazz, blues and contemporary styles provide the perfect rhythmic foundation for the group.

Together, the trio presents a repertoire that draws from the Great American Songbook, blues classics, Latin influences and modern jazz favourites. Expect sophisticated arrangements, inspired improvisation and the kind of musical conversation that only comes from years of performing together. The result is intimate, engaging jazz that rewards both dedicated listeners and those simply looking for a memorable night out.

Set within Barnaby’s unique listening-room atmosphere, this promises to be a Friday evening filled with exceptional live music, delicious food from Powell’s Kitchen and some of the finest cocktails and wines in Hastings.
