Markus & Tessa Thonett & Guests – Art Exhibition

Barnaby’s Lounge is delighted to welcome Markus & Tessa Thonett and guests as part of the Coastal Currents 2026 arts festival.

Running from 30 August to 4 October, this exhibition brings together the distinctive work of two talented artists. Markus Thonett, originally from Germany and now an Irish citizen, creates intricate artworks using his unique Card Cuts technique, carefully working with scalpel and mounting board to create pieces inspired by local and wider subjects. He will also be presenting his ‘Greenish Paintings’, created on repurposed plywood with a focus on reducing environmental impact.

Tessa Thonett is a portrait painter whose work combines oils, palette knives and brushes. Alongside her commissioned portraits, she presents her ongoing ‘Grace n’ Grit’ series, celebrating sensitive and strong contemporary women through vibrant portraits full of character and colour.

🎶 Special Guest: Danny Horn
Danny Horn is a Hastings-based singer-songwriter who combines traditional musical forms with contemporary ideas and distinctive storytelling. He will be playing throughout the Art Party, adding live music to this special celebration. As part of the celebration, a hat will be passed around during the evening, and donations for the live music are appreciated.
